Add and manage data sources

A data source feeds one provider’s numbers into one project. A typical website has three: Google Analytics for traffic, Search Console for search and UptimeRobot for uptime.

Data sources always belong to a project, so you add them from the project. Open the project and select Add data source, or use Add data source in its Project settings. Don’t have a project yet? Create one first.

  1. Provider. Choose where your data lives. See all integrations.

  2. Connected account. Choose an account under Use a connected account, sign in with the provider (for example Connect Google in Metribay Cloud), or open Connect an account with your own credentials. Selecting Save account and continue saves the account straight away under Settings → Connected accounts, even if you stop before the last step. Your integration guide explains which credentials to use.

  3. What to track. Metribay lists the websites, properties, repositories or monitors this account can see. Use the filter to find one and select it.

If yours is missing, check that the account has access to it, then select Refresh list. You can also open Enter it manually and type its ID.

  4. Confirm. Under Advanced settings you can set a Data source label and the History window (days). The reporting timezone is shown for your information.

    Select Add and start import.

The data source is only created when you confirm this last step.

  • Setup never resumes. If you leave the page before the last step, what you entered in the form is discarded. Select Add data source again to start fresh. Accounts you already saved stay saved.
  • Cancel takes you back to the project.
  • Change provider starts over with a different provider.
  • Choose something else goes back one step from the confirmation.

Only owners can connect accounts and browse everything an account can see, because that touches credentials. In the self-hosted edition, you are the owner.

Open the project and select Project settings, or go to Settings → Projects and choose Edit project and data sources. Each data source shows its provider, the connected account it uses, its timezone, resource ID, the time of the last sync and any recent collection issue. Open Manage data source to change:

  • Data source label: the name shown on the dashboard.
  • Collection window (days): the history window, from 1 to 366 days.
  • Connected account: the account this data source reads with. Switching keeps the data source’s history. Useful when you rotate credentials or move to a new service account.
  • Collect automatically: turn off to pause the data source. It keeps its history.

Select Save data source to apply. Below the form you’ll find Sync now and, for owners, Check provider access. See Updates and syncing.

A data source’s provider, resource and timezone are fixed once it’s created. This keeps its history consistent: a year of data from one property never gets mixed with another’s.

If you need to track a different property, repository or monitor, add a new data source and pause the old one. Both keep their own history.

There’s no delete button for data sources. Pause the data source instead: turn off Collect automatically. It stops collecting, stops counting towards your plan limits and keeps its history in case you need it again.

You can add as many data sources to a project as you like, even two of the same provider. For example, a site that moved from Umami to Google Analytics can show both. Give each a clear label.
